So let me get this straight, modern day christians can just pick and choose what they take from the bible as long as they can justify it and it doesn't go against modern day standards and practices? I'm going to start reading Harry Potter that way, i bet i come up with a completely different story, but don't worry, the "spirit" will be the same i'm sure. Also, i'm going to let 250+ people rewrite Harry Potter for me first because i trust that they will keep my mine and god's best interest at heart like men in power always have. Christians are idiots who refuse to ask the truly tough questions. Remember, it's easier to be Christian in this country than think for yourself and really look for answers.

Alright for #7 Deuteronomy 23:1 it says that those who have messed up testes wont make it as well as Ammonites and Moabites. This is the period before Christ where only God's chosen people (Jews) were saved. Jesus came so that both the Jews and the Gentiles would be saved. This includes people with messed up privates as well as Ammonites and Moabites. Therefore, people with injured privates can be saved. If you don't believe that the death of Jesus Christ to save ALL is not biblically supported: Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. If that's not enough, Romans 10:13 states: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

so many butthurt christfags. nobody here is trying to tell you to stop believing in god, we are merely pointing out how flawed the bible is. the fact of the matter is that these are only a few of the "questionable" verses in the bible. saying that these particular verses are taken out of context is nowhere near a decent excuse.

What a bunch of boneheads. Almost all the horrible acts mentioned are about how bad the good guys suffer at the hands of the bad guys.

I'm not here as a Bible defender. On the contrary, I landed here looking for bizzare quotes to discredit fundamentalist wackos. But unfortunately, these quotes all make sense in CONTEXT. Don't just read x:yy. Do an independent search of x, by itself, before you claim to know what the sentence means.

I can't stand when people say that the ten commandments are the 'corner stones' of our law. If that is the caes why are there no laws against worshipping other gods, not keeping the sabbath, not honoring your mother and father etc etc. As far as I can tell the only two that match up are stealing and murder and these are wrong in almost all cultures. I like Exodus 3 when old Yaweh commands the fleeing Israelites to steal things from the Egyptians before leaving. He's actually commanding them to break a (future)commandment!!!
